Privacy Policy for Cleaning Pal
Effective Date: September 17, 2026
Oval Software Solutions (“we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the Cleaning Pal mobile application. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and disclose information when you use our application.
1. Information We Collect
We intentionally limit the data we collect. The only information transmitted to our servers or our third-party service providers is diagnostic and analytics data:
- Crashlytics and App Performance: We use Firebase Crashlytics to monitor app stability. This data includes anonymous crash reports, device state information at the time of a crash, and hardware specifications. Google retains this crash data for 90 days before it is automatically deleted.
- Analytics: We may use Firebase Analytics to understand how users interact with the app. This user-level data is retained by Google for up to 14 months.
- Note: This diagnostic and analytics data is processed and stored on Google’s servers, subject to Google’s Privacy Policy. It is not linked to your personal identity.
2. Information You Store (Your Customers’ Data)
Cleaning Pal is designed as a utility for your business.
- Local Storage: All customer names, addresses, transaction logs, and schedules are stored exclusively on your device’s local database. We do not have access to, nor do we store, transmit, or process your clients’ data on our servers.
- Data Liability and Loss: Because all customer data is stored locally on your device, we are not responsible or liable for the loss, corruption, or unauthorized access to this data. This includes, but is not limited to, data loss resulting from device hardware failure, accidental deletion, or software updates to the Cleaning Pal application. We strongly recommend regularly backing up your database using the provided Google Drive backup feature.
- Google Drive Backups: You have the option to generate a zip file backup of your database and host it on your personal Google Drive. This is a user-initiated action. We do not have access to your Google Drive account or the backup files. Data stored on Google Drive is subject to Google’s Privacy Policy.
- Your Role as Data Controller: Because you determine the purpose and means of processing your clients’ data, you act as the “Data Controller” under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and UK GDPR. You are solely responsible for ensuring you have the legal right to store your clients’ information and for complying with applicable local data protection laws.
3. Device Permissions
To provide core application functionality, Cleaning Pal requests the following device permissions:
- Bluetooth (
BLUETOOTH,BLUETOOTH_ADMIN,BLUETOOTH_CONNECT,BLUETOOTH_SCAN): These permissions are required strictly to discover and connect to external hardware, specifically Bluetooth thermal receipt printers. We do not use Bluetooth for location tracking or data harvesting.
4. Affiliate Links and Advertising
- Affiliate Links: Cleaning Pal contains affiliate links to third-party storefronts, including Amazon, eBay, and AliExpress. When you click these links, you will be directed to the respective third-party platform. We may earn a commission on purchases made through these links. These platforms may use cookies to attribute the sale.
- Google AdMob (Future Integration): We plan to integrate Google AdMob to display advertisements within the app. Once active, AdMob may collect and process device identifiers, including your Android Advertising ID, and IP address to serve personalized or non-personalized ads. You can manage your ad preferences or opt out of personalized advertising through your Android device’s global settings.
5. Your Privacy Rights and Data Retention (GDPR & US State Laws)
Depending on your location, you have certain rights regarding your personal data, including the right to request deletion:
- On-Device Data: Because we do not hold your personal profile on our servers, any requests to delete your usage or customer data can be achieved instantly by uninstalling the application or clearing the app’s data in your device settings.
- Firebase Data: You can opt out of Crashlytics and Analytics data collection by adjusting your device’s global diagnostic settings. If you wish to request the deletion of data already collected by Firebase before its automatic expiration (90 days for Crashlytics, 14 months for Analytics), please contact us. We will submit a deletion request to Google on your behalf; however, the actual permanent deletion of this data is subject to Google’s processing timelines.
6. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on cleaningpal.co.uk/app_privacy and updating the “Effective Date” at the top.
